The Ashgabat International Airport, located about 10 km (6 mi) northwest of the capital Ashgabat (Ashkhabad), has a terminal configuration featuring a Turkmen bird with a wing span of 364 meters, setting the world record for the LARGEST WING SPAN BUILDING.

The main terminal takes the shape of a Turkmen Falcon spreading its wings and the edge of its main roof is in the shape of a bow Oguz Han. The new terminal building, with a total enclosed area of 161,851 m2, will accommodate 14 million domestic and foreign passengers annually according to IATA Class A service standards. The passenger terminal has 30 bridged gates.
