Jivanbhai Deshabhai Parmar, very well known as JD Parmar born on 11th April 1942 in the Prabhas Patan area situated in Veraval, Gir Somnath district in Saurashtra region of Gujarat, India. He was appointed one of the Trustees of Shri Somnath Trust (SST) by the Government of Gujarat in 1975 by the recommendation of Shri Morarji Desai the honorable Prime Minister of India at that time. He is also a retired principal & proficient Sanskrit Professor in a local college in Veraval. He has happily completed his valuable 45 years of service as a trustee in the Lord Somnath Temple and is still active.

Understanding the value of literature, JD Parmar selected Sanskrit as his special subject in B.A& M.A in Somnath College& Samaldas College from Bhavnagar with First class honors. With the best knowledge of the Sanskrit philosophy, his devotion, and hard effort he became lecturer and principal of the same college and served for ingenious 39 years till retirement. From 1980 to 2005 he remained Chairman of Somprabha Education Trust, Prabhas Patan. As a member of interviewers in Banking service Recruitment Board, he worked at W.Z. Baroda from 1995 to 2001.

Considering the social activities he remained chairman of Meghdharu Charitable Trust from 1980 to 2005, Member of Vigilance Committee for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes at District level for 3 years, Member of Social Welfare Committee Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes in Junagadh District for 3 years, and Member of Dam & Irrigation Committee of Hiran Dam near Veraval for 1 year.

During his whole life, he participated in many religious activities and wrote many books. One of his famous works includes “Prabhas TirthDarshan” written in Gujarati, Hindi, and English language, which was published by Somnath Trust and translated in 15 different languages. Some of the other books include “Manusmruti-III” & “Mandukyopanishad” which were published in 1996.

JD Parmar was honored with the “Somnath Sanskrit Gold Medal” in Sanskrit philosophy on the 1st December 2016. He truly dedicated his whole life to hard work which eventually leads to a desired successful outcome in social, religious, and other educational activities for the welfare of mankind.
