Alyssa Healy with a six and Australia makes the world record for the most consecutive straight 18th victory in Women’s One Day International (ODI) cricket on 9 Oct 2019, an achievement they conquered 20 years ago with 17 wins. It’s been an astonishing journey from Baroda to Brisbane from the past 18 months from 12 Mar 2018 to 9 Oct 2019. They marked the history by beating Sri Lanka in all three-match ODI series.
Chamari Atapattu’s century supported Sri Lanka to post 195/8 on the scoreboard after deciding to bat first in the last match of the series. While chasing the target of 196, Aussies registered 159 runs for the first wicket. Rachael Haynes hits half-century and a thrilling unbeaten ton 112 by Alyssa Healy helped Australia drive away from the target in 26.5 overs dominating the series. In the three-match ODI series, the Aussies have performed brilliantly as they won all the matches in the series.
Australia also becomes the only team to win most consecutive winning streak with the top three spots. Earlier they have enjoyed 17th and 16th streak games win from 12 Dec 1997 to 7 Feb 1999 and 25 Feb 1999 to 18 Dec 2000. Australia’s Women started back to the India and Pakistan series in 2018 when they whitewashed the series by 3-0. They continued whitewashing New Zealand, England, West Indies, and Sri Lanka in 2019.
Australia’s Women has now an eye on Australia’s Men as they hold the world record with consecutive 21 straight ODI triumphs.
