Jane Fonda is an American actress well known for her acting work, political activism and aerobic exercise videos. She is the winner of numerous accolades including two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, seven Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, the AFI Life Achievement Award and the Honorary Golden Lion. The daughter of renowned actor Henry Fonda, the actress has received two Oscars.
Fonda’s humanitarian work has centered on youth and education, reproductive wellbeing for adolescents, climate, public rights and the arts.Fonda sold her widely profitable line of fitness videos and books to fund the Campaign for Economic Democracy, a California advocacy group that she established in 1978 with her second husband Tom Hayden. In the mid-1990s, Fonda set up the Georgia Center for Adolescent Power and Potential (GCAPP) and the Fonda Family Foundation. In the mid 2000, Fonda formed the Jane Fonda Foundation in 2004 with one million dollars of its own money as a charitable corporation with herself as chairman, chair, director and secretary; Fonda spends 10 hours per week on her behalf. In 2017, she began distributing items featuring her 1970.
In December 2008, Fonda was inducted into the California Hall of Fame, housed at The California Hall of Fame. She was also the 42nd recipient of the AFI Career Achievement Award (2014). She received a lifetime achievement award for the Goldene Kamera in 2017.She was one of fifteen women, chosen by guest editor Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to feature on the cover of the September 2019 edition of British Vogue.
