Elon Musk is Tesla’s co-founder and CEO, overseeing design & manufacturing of all products of the company’s electric vehicles, battery products, and Solar Roofs system creation, development and production.
Elon is also the co-founder, CEO and chief designer of Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), where he oversees the production and manufacture of innovative rockets and spacecraft for flights to and beyond Earth’s orbit, with the goal of establishing a self-sustaining city on Mars. He is also CEO of Neuralink, which designs ultra-high brain-machine bandwidth interfaces to connect the human brain to computers. Elon has also created and serves as the CEO of The Boring Group, which blends fast, inexpensive tunneling technology with an all-electric public transit network to relieve soul-crushing urban congestion and facilitate long-distance high-speed travel.
On June 17, 2014, Musk committed to constructing an integrated SolarCity manufacturing center in Buffalo, New York, which will triple the capacity of the existing solar power plant in the USA. Musk said the plant will be “one of the world’s largest single solar panel manufacturing facilities,” which in future years will be followed by one or two much bigger projects. The Tesla Gigafactory 2 is a photovoltaic (PV) cell plant, leased in Buffalo, New York, by Tesla subsidiary SolarCity.
Musk was ranked 21st on the Forbes list of The World’s Most Influential Men in December 2016. Musk was given the Oslo Company for Peace Award in May 2017. Musk was elected Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 2018. Musk was given the Most Noble Order of the Direkgunabhorn on 4 March 2019 for his service to the Royal Society (FRS).
